WEEKLY ROUNDUP: OUR FAVES FROM THIS WEEK
Here’s what to read this weekend: The NYTimes Well Blog quizzed us on our food label knowledge… and the results were pretty humbling. Workout motivation? Check. We’re loving these 15 reasons to work out – and not just because none of them have to do with weight loss. We were in need of a little mentorship this week…and we found it. Here’s how we’re reaching – and empowering – our inner girl boss. Salad game: elevated. Here’s 17 recipes to make ahead and bring with you… that are actually filling. Mother’s Day is this weekend! We’re planning on doing (almost) all of these things with Mom at exhale – plus maybe a spa day, too.

WEEKLY ROUNDUP: OUR FAVES FROM THIS WEEK
Prepping for your next facial, all the getting-ready-for-summer details, and other things we loved from around the web recently. Summer is (almost) upon us, and we’re aiming to up our outdoor dinner game. For inspiration: this amazing dinner on Brooklyn Supper. Need more inspiration? Here’s a few of the best health cookbooks, according to experts – including exhale’s very own Chicago Spa Director/Core Fusion Teacher/stellar healthy meal maker (and eater!), Claire Schaal. W Magazine Editors (aka some of the chicest people we know) shared how they’re getting in shape for summer. We especially loved getting a shout-out from W’s Beauty Editor + Core Fusion all-star, Mia: “Between my blatant lack of coordination and the

OUR WEEKLY ROUNDUP: OUR FAVES FROM THIS WEEK
It’s Memorial Day weekend, and we’re busy packing our beach bags—we loved this killer list of what to bring, which included our very own Core Fusion Co-Founder Elisabeth Halfpapp’s beach bag essentials. One thing we’ll be leaving behind (pun intended): we’re glad to have a little extra time out of our desk chairs, after we learned what too much sitting can do to your butt. Luckily, barre classes can help. Here’s what to eat if you want your skin to glow. We’ll be trying these new superfood recipes this weekend – antioxidant game, elevated. And last but not least, we’re headed to the Hamptons this weekend. Here’s our packing inspiration for the whole journey (and not just

WEEKLY ROUNDUP: OUR FAVES FROM THIS WEEK
Turns out the age-old “start your day with a good breakfast” rule has very little to do with actual research – and a lot more to do with “studies” funded by breakfast food manufacturers. We’re never giving up our morning smoothies, though. We’ll also be adding a few of these ayurvedic go-to’s for great skin, plus these easy mindfulness techniques to our routine this week. You’ve heard your Core Fusion Extreme teacher mention how your body will continue to burn calories long after a HIIT class…and it’s a real thing. Here’s the science behind it. Two summer skin must-do’s: try DIY body brushing regularly at home, or book a glow body scrub at exhale and exfoliate with the pros.

OUR WEEKLY ROUNDUP: WHAT TO READ THIS WEEKEND
Turns out that working out not only makes us stronger…it also makes us smarter. Here’s the latest on how. In other news, one savvy City Council just announced a tax on sugar-sweetened beverages. Philly is the second city in the nation (after New York!) to create such a law. We love this initiative and hope to see a lot more smoothies and juices replacing chemical-laden sodas. Looking for a healthier (and sweeter!) alternative to your fave sugary beverage? Check out these tips to get the most out of your smoothie! Off to the Hamptons this weekend? Core Fusion co-founders and ultimate Hampton-goers, Fred DeVito and Elisabeth Halfpapp, told PureWow how they’d spend their favorite Saturday evening out

OUR WEEKLY ROUNDUP: WHAT TO READ THIS WEEKEND
We applaud the NYC fitness community for teaming up to raise awareness and promote gun safety and regulation with their colorful campaign, Guns Against Gun Violence. Our very own Fred Devito, Bergen Wheeler, and Julie Bobek joined the movement showing off their core fusion-built biceps. If you’re working out, but not seeing results, perhaps it’s how you are working out (versus how much). From classic exercises such asplank or bicep curl, to the pretzel, plie, or waterski, make sure your form and alignment is on point (pun intended) so you make the most of every class. Nothing beats the smell of a fresh garden in summertime…particularly the smell from flowers that have a positive

WHAT MINDFULNESS MEANS TO ME
holder
Just get out there. It’s all in your head. It’s all in your head. That’s what I kept telling myself, moments before heading on stage to perform the most complex, improvisational choreography of my life – alone before an audience packed with critics. I was at the peak of my contemporary dance career, strong and thin as a rail, and this was my moment – but I was definitely not ready. An endless loop of jittery nerves and self-depreciating thoughts was standing in my way. On stage in the dark, a violinist stood at the ready. Perhaps she was feeling the same way. We’d rehearsed a million times, but what

What Mindfulness Means to Me

I used to thrive on stress and got sucked into the culture of over-stimulation, multi-tasking, and being forever on-the-go. I believed that gave me energy and made me effective. The notion of “recovery time” for the mind was not on my radar, let alone in my language. Not anymore. For me, mindfulness is a life changing exercise. It is kind of like strength training for my mental muscles. It means shifting my gears to have both my mind and body in the current moment, conversation, meeting, or experience. Giving myself permission to smile and be grateful for a kindness or new insight. And it is disrupting the negative thoughts to
