WHY WE EXERCISE

By Fred DeVito, exhale’s EVP movement Classes + Training

Here at exhale, we believe that the healthiest lifestyle is one that puts you in tune with your mind and body. My colleagues and I also believe that “if it doesn’t challenge you, it doesn’t change you.” So we transform our clients with fitness programs that are meant to challenge your body on all levels, including strength, flexibility, and cardio. For your mind, we bring you stress reduction techniques that clear your thoughts, calm your nerves, and center your spirit. We have programs for you whether you are a beginner, an intermediate student or good enough to be leading the class yourself! And we’ll help you find the right level of intensity to match your goals for the “mind body movement” that is the cornerstone of the exhale philosophy.

So whether you are a beginner eager to see results in your abs or you are a fierce warrior who wants to take cardio or interval training to the next level, I’ve got some guidelines and tips below:

Self-love vs. self-indulgence

We all take pride in looking good and feeling proficient when exercising in a classroom setting.  But, if you tap into your inner wisdom you will see the benefits of challenging yourself to work on the things your body needs, and not just repeat the exercises that your body sees as routine. Using the analogy that “a chain is only as strong as its weakest link,” your body is only as strong as its weakest muscle group and when you improve your weaknesses, you increase your overall level of fitness.

Flexibility is important at all levels

Whether you are new to the gym or a hard-charger at the top of your game, chances are you can improve your flexibility. Make flexibility training a priority and watch your body respond and rebound.

Be ageless

It’s always the right time to think about anti-aging. At exhale, our barre classes address muscle and bone density, muscle elasticity, joint integrity, and range of motion. Improve any or all of these and watch your energy levels soar.

I believe that mind body movement is based on pushing yourself to work hard from a place of wisdom. A deeper knowing that if I do this… I will have specific results toward living a longer, stronger, more pain-free, and healthier life. I look forward to seeing you in class!
