Elizabeth WelpElizabeth’s journey into yoga began when she suffered a low back injury and was unable to continue a daily running routine that started at age 10. Her yoga practice quickly nurtured her back to great health and allowed her to continue with a very active lifestyle. During the process, she discovered the healing power of the mind body connection using the strong breath and soon fell in love with a new “meditation in motion,” a new means to free her mind.

In her classes, she encourages her students to use the powerful breathing to explore beyond the “boundaries” imposed by the mind and lose their inhibitions. To help students let go, she incorporates the tunes of many different popular musicians and creates an invigorating vinyasa flow that she hopes to leave students feeling physically strong, mentally refreshed and spiritually enlightened. “The hardest part of doing yoga is just getting to class. Once you are here, all you have to do is breathe!”

Elizabeth’s foundation for teaching comes from her Ashtanga Yoga teacher trainings with David Swenson and Sharon Moon where she received her yoga alliance certification. She is also thankful for the other senior teachers who have shared their love for yoga and their gift of knowledge through workshops and advanced teacher trainings since her initial certification. These include, Manju Jois, Tias Little, Dave Oliver, Shiva Rea, Mark Darby, Sharon Gannon and David Life. Her teaching is further inspired by her dog Bacchus, her love for music and her students.
